TRANSLUCENT FUTURES
Sheer technical surfaces with real substance, used as structure rather than reveal.
TRENDS
Translucency is being treated as a structural material. Coated organzas, bonded meshes and film-laminated technical cloth are cut into full garments instead of being used as a detail.
Layering does the work: two or three translucent planes over one another build depth and opacity exactly where a garment needs it, leaving the rest to read as light.
It also suits new bio-based and regenerated films, which often arrive thin and semi-clear before they arrive opaque — making this as much a material story as a styling one.
